Whitley Stimpson has been officially named as one of the country’s top accountancy firms by the prestigious Accountancy Age 50+50 survey, the UK’s most comprehensive breakdown of accountancy sector performance. The leading Oxfordshire-based firm was recognised for its impressive growth and strong commitment to staff development, having grown its business substantially over the past year to become one of the country’s most successful regional accountancy businesses.
“Being awarded national recognition by such a respected industry voice is a testament to the hard work, expertise and knowledge of my team,” comments Malcolm Higgs, Senior Partner, Whitley Stimpson. “We place a strong emphasis on the value of training and development, and ensure that all our staff are equipped to provide the best possible consultancy to our clients. This together with our strategic focus on developing new business niches continues to place us in a very competitive position within Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and beyond.”
Accountage Age 50+50 is the most hotly anticipated accountancy survey in the accountancy sector. It rates firms on operating profit and fee income. This year, the collective fee income of the top 50 firms has broken the £10bn mark for the first time, which the magazine attributes to a combination of more businesses adopting an optimistic outlook to growth and accountancy firms taking a smarter approach to recruitment and working processes.
Whitley Stimpson delivers a full range of accountancy services to businesses and families, and counts many long-standing customers among its broad customer base. The firm celebrated its 80th anniversary in 2011 and continues to go from strength to strength, developing for the future by investing in new trainees and bucking the national trend by recruiting eight university graduates in the past two years.
In line with its focus on forging successful business niches, Whitley Stimpson is also taking the lead in the provision of accountancy services to academy schools. Adding to its independent schools and academy client base the firm has recently won a contract to act for, the Oxford Diocesan Schools Trust. It will continue to break into new areas that complement the knowledge of its partners and staff.
Many Whitley Stimpson trainees go on to become long-serving employees, with one former ‘graduate’, Anne Davidson, retiring this summer after 37 years with the firm. Another former Whitley Stimpson employee, who trained as a chartered accountant with the firm before establishing three flourishing businesses, was recently named as one of the most influential people in the UK tax profession.
